Is there really a difference between 'day cream' and 'night cream'?

I have two really nice skin creams by Avon that are the same brand, same type, except one of them is a 'day cream' and one a 'night cream'. What is the difference? Is there really a difference between 'day cream' and 'night cream'?
the day cream mght have an spf for one thing. also when you sleep, your cell turnover is faster. a night cream is formulated to work with the skin while it's rejuvinating. night creams tend to be heavier and that's not what you want for day.Is there really a difference between 'day cream' and 'night cream'?
night cream tends to be heavier then day cream.
Do you know what the active ingredients are? Most of the time, there is no real difference, but night creams are often heavier.

Night creams may often contain active ingredients that will work while you're sleeping to help correct skin problems--common ones are alpha hydroxy acids, peptides, etc. You may want to see what the ingredients are in each. If you can't see any active ingredients, your night cream is probably designed to be a little more hydrating.
